Cleland Pottery

I use the raw clay as a canvas for my art, and so each piece is a unique creation. The pots shown on my web site may already be sold, but please inquire if you see something you like.

If the pot you are interested in is no longer available I can make one for you as a special order, although it will not be an exact copy. You can also request any special order you like. Mugs, teapots, casseroles, vases, platters, lamps, bowls, christmas ornaments, pitchers, ladles and covered jars are all some of the things I make on a regular basis. When thinking of what kind of images you would like on your pot, please keep in mind that I specialize in things from nature. If you can find a picture of what you like, it will help if you send it for me to refer to as I decorate.

Pieces that are in stock can be shipped immediately, but please be prepared to wait for any special orders. I will do my best to give you an estimate of the time required when you place your order. It will depend on the time of year and where I am in my production cycle. A 50% deposit will be required with your order. Prices for one piece range from $20 to over $500 depending on the amount of time involved. What you are purchasing is original art, not production pottery.

I think it's important to know a few things about my work. All of my glaze formulations are lead free, and every pot is oven, microwave, and dishwasher safe. Each piece, including all decoration, is fired to the stoneware stage and is very durable. I intend for my pots to be used! The designs can not "come off" - they are brushed liquid porcelain, engobes and stains, applied when the pot is "raw", and then fired in. For the most part, stoneware may be treated like Pyrex. It cannot be placed on open flame, nor can it be moved directly from hot to cold (e.g. oven to refrigerator), or reverse.
